Leeds has so many wonderful museums and galleries, and many of them are free to enter, and most have a cafe too!
Discover Leeds City Museum; a treasure trove of six galleries and home to the Leeds Tiger and the Ancient Egyptian Mummy, Nesaymum! And THIS SUNDAY, it is DADTASTIC DAY– a FREE family fun day at Leeds City Museum organised by Leeds Dads!!!
Explore the United Kingdom’s national collection of arms, armour and artillery at The Royal Armouries
Or peruse contemporary art at The Tetley in the heart of Leeds’ South Bank. There is also a restaurant and BAR for those wanting a celebratory pint!

With so many walks to choose from it can be hard to narrow it down – perhaps consider one of the following categories when making your decision:

Pack up a picnic
Take that stroll ONE STEP FURTHER and choose somewhere where you can take a spot of lunch.
Why not consider visiting one of Leeds’ Homes & Gardens? Temple Newsam is always a popular choice for it’s ample green space, playground, café and toilets.
Or simply choose to have a picnic in your back garden!
Serve Dad an all-star brunch
Start the day right with a table full of all of Dad’s favourite brunch delectables!
Impress him with waffles, pancakes, eggs, fruit, coffee and fresh juice.
Have a family game night/afternoon
Depending on the age range, we recommend choose some classics like Jenga, Charades, and Snap. Dobble is a family favourite for us and good for all age ranges as it’s essentially a slightly more advanced version of snap. One Night Warewolf and Exploding Kittens are also firm favourites for the older kids.
Or you could even host a quiz night with questions specific to Dad!
Craft together
Explore your creative sides with fun family crafts. PLUS, whatever you make can totally double as a great DIY gift for Dad! For the younger crafters, you can add tape to canvas or card, let the paints flow and once dry, find yourself with an artistic masterpiece.
Or you can take this opportunity, if you haven’t already, to get all the families hand/food prints together to create something truly personal and one for the memory box! For more ideas, see our blog here.
Pamper him with a spa day
Dads deserve some pampering, too! Turn your home into a relaxing spa complete with some candles and soothing music, then you or your kids can treat him to an at-home massage, facial (don’t forget the cucumber slices) and even a foot rub!
My nieces and nephew absolutely love treating their dad to a day at the spa – with a treatment list and everything!
Watch a movie
Weather permitting, you can create either an indoor or outdoor cinema at home, complete with popcorn, and movie tickets.
Dad gets to choose the movie (family friendly of course!). We have a roundup of family movies here if you need any inspiration.
