  • Hope Pastures – Horse and Donkey Trust, Weetwood

Hope Pastures rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes horses, ponies and donkeys. They also provide the opportunity for people to meet the animals and learn about them and how to look after them. You can visit everyday free of charge 10am to 3pm. The visitor centre is open at weekends and bank holidays providing refreshments.

  • Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, Meanwood

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is a working farm with a wide variety of animals, market gardens and woodland walks. Also visit the cafe, farm shop, and adventure play area for under 12’s. Accessible site, toilet facilities. Open daily, small admission charge.

  • None Go Bye Farm, Horsforth

A family run farm, providing an excellent farm shop.  You can take a walk around the outside animal area and feed the animals (£1 per person), they even have Alpacas!.   There is also an indoor sandpit and small play area (£2 per child) with ride-ons and Little Tikes slide etc for children.  There is lots of free parking and a special picnic area.

  • The Donkey Sanctuary, Eccup

Meet the wonderful team of donkeys – they love to meet new people and you can discover their unique characters and stories. They have a good value cafe,great play area inside and out .  Themed events run throughout the year including grooming days and interactive sessions. Open 365 days a year from 9am until dusk. Admission and parking are free.

  • Rhubarb Triangle Farm Shop, Carlton

Selling great Yorkshire Produce, with a Deli counter and Butchers Shop. Hot drinks available. Courtyard seating area. Visit the animals of the farm, and buy a bag of animal feed for 70p at the shop.

Cannon Hall Farm

The perfect family day out in the pennine hills with hundreds of animals, an amazing adventure playground, huge indoor play, farm shop and restaurants. Open daily, special events throughout the year. Accessible site. Admission charges apply.

Lotherton & Wildlife World

Discover Lotherton, a country estate, historic hall and Wildlife World zoo.

The expansive grounds and gardens are lovely walking spots, with or without four-legged companions. Each season brings new surprises including wild garlic in the spring, a sea of colourful blooms in summer in the formal gardens and stunning autumnal colours later on in the year.

The two playgrounds mean there’s plenty of space for running about and letting off steam, with zip wires for older children to enjoy.

The evolving zoo, Wildlife World, is a real highlight and visitors can see the Humboldt penguins splash and swim in their pool. Other colourful characters include Arthur the tapir, porcupines and a flamboyance of pink flamingos. New for 2021 is the Nocturnal House with a kinkajou, armadillo and more!

RSPB Fairburn Ings

With pond dipping, regular fun events and walks to help you get away from it all, RSPB Fairburn Ings is the ideal place for adults and children to find out more about wildlife. Visitor centre open daily except Christmas day. Small parking charge. Accessible paths. Shop, snacks & toilet facilities.

St. Aidans RSPB Reserve

St Aidans RSPB reserve is managed by the RSPB for visitors and wildlife, on behalf of Leeds City Council.

Visit our new visitor centre with cafe, shop & toilet facilities. There are 12km of trails, plus the transpennine trail which passes the nature park on the southern side. The main trails take you amongst a variety of habitats including reedbed, wetland, meadows and woodland.

Swithens Farm

Here at Swithens Farm, we have a huge range of animals for you to see and interact with. Your little ones, and probably you also, will be happy as the pigs in muck as you get involved with feeding and learning about the care and husbandry on a real working farm. We have a whole host of stars for you to meet including cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, emus, meerkats, rabbits and guinea pigs. There is also a play barn to enjoy!

We can’t wait to welcome all our visitors back to Hull’s amazing aquarium and enjoy a fin-tastic day  With over 5000 animals, including spectacular sharks and rays, the UK’s only Green sawfish, hundreds of tropical fish, Loggerhead sea turtles and a colony of Gentoo penguins, there’s something for everyone.

Please note, to avoid crowds gathering, the dive show, touchpool sessions and scheduled feed presentations will be suspended for now.
