The Dewsbury Road Community Hub in Beeston covers various areas of Leeds including Beeston Hill, Holbeck and West Hunslet. It is also not far from the City Centre. The Community Hub brings together various, easy to access, face to face services under one roof, including the library, job shop, housing and benefits advice, credit union, bike library and public access telephones. Services at Dewsbury Road Community Hub Services:

(1) Customer Access – for enquiries relating to:

    • Adult Social Care
    • Children and Young People Social Care
    • Disabled parking badges
    • Housing
    • Council benefits including Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.
    • Council Tax
    • Other council services such as environmental services, emptying wheelie bins, street lighting and maintain roads and pavements, now via a self- service facility, mediated when needed.
    • Parking related services.
    • Support for people affected by problem debt and poverty. This included issuing food vouchers, payment approved by the Local Welfare Support scheme, and providing free sanitary products for women and girls affected by period poverty
    • Hate reporting centre for reporting hate crime and getting advice.

(2) Job Shop to support people into employment and training. Includes help with job search, forming and improving your cv, interview techniques, confidence building, advice on vacancies and apprenticeships available, guidance on career options, and online jobsearch facility.

(3) The Library – providing a varied selection books for adults and children, including a selection in Urdu. There are also free regular activities for children and eg story/time, Lego club, coding. In addition there is a wide array of activities during school holidays eg arts, crafts, plays, summer reading challenge.

(4) Leeds City Credit Union – providing simple, affordable financial services which can also be accessible to people who may not be able to open a bank account via the mainstream banking sector.

(5) IT suite – free use of over 20 pc with free internet access – get support with UC and PBS, Housing applications (bidding) and benefit eclaims.

(6) Bike Library – hire a bike for free. Safety helmet, high visual jacket and bike pump also provided.

(7) Public Access Phones – these give free access to various support services which includes applying for Local Welfare Support for those affected by a financial crisis.

(8) Meeting Rooms – large room with wifi which can hold up to 20 people and other smaller spaces
