The family days continue in Yorkshire and the next one takes place at Pontefract on Sunday 19th June, which is also Father’s Day. If you are always wondering what to do with your Father, or the significant man in your life, then what could be better than a sporting afternoon at the races, with fun for all the family!
Embracing a Yorkshire theme, there will be a Yorkshire pudding throwing competition, Heart Radio Yorkshire prizes, whippet racing, face painting, hunt the golden horseshoe, children’s rides and a flat cap brass band playing all day.
Along side the seven competitive races, don’t miss the chance to get closer to the action and learn a bit more about the behind-the-scenes activity with a bus trip down to the start, where you can watch the horses, before being loaded into the stalls and bursting out at lightning speed.
This race meeting is also part of the Sky Bet Sunday Series, so you’re likely to see large fields, competing for their share of some exceptional prize money! It’s live on ITV and a special day in Pontefract’s 2022 racing calendar.
Bring the family; children, mums, dads, grandparents, uncles and aunts and make a day of it. Pack a picnic if you’re going into the Course Enclosure, or enjoy the delicious Yorkshire food on offer at the racecourse and don’t forget some pennies for an ice-cream!
Gates open at 12 noon and the first race is 3.45pm. Grandstand & Paddock tickets are still available, including a discounted family ticket for two adults and under 18’s, but the family ticket is not available on the day and can only be booked online.
