The Weekender is the biggest family event in the annual Tetley calendar!
The Tetley weekender is an annual micro-festival that takes its inspiration from its current exhibition with activities for all the family.
This year the theme will be sculpture, with various fun family activities inside and out, alongside Yorkshire inspired food and drink from The Tetley Bar & Kitchen.
Expect lots of creative crafts, mess making and face painting. It’s a great introduction to everything that goes on at The Tetley!
What’s On for Families:
INCREDIBLE INFRASTRUCTURE
29th- 30th June, 11am–4pm, Brewery Green, All welcome, FREE.
Town and city infrastructure like water and gas pipes, electricity and telephone cabling are all part of essential services that are important in our everyday lives. Most of these are hidden within walls, covered by plastic tubing or laid deep underground. Come along to this workshop and create an infrastructure inspired by what you think is essential. Use a stencil and spray paint technique to explore positive and negative space whilst creating ‘blueprints’ for your town planning.
PIPE PLAY
29th- 30th June, 11am–4pm, Brewery Green, All welcome, FREE
Using current exhibitions by Nika Neelova and Holly Hendry as inspiration, this workshop reimagines recycled and reclaimed materials to create abstract sculptures or creative structures. Holly Hendry will be leading a workshop based on her exhibition, Cenotaph, a series of public sculptures outside The Tetley. Inspired by pipes and underground networks. Workshop supported by Liverpool Biennial.
The workshop considers undersides and archaeology – thinking about landscapes that look like they have been uncovered – fossils from past or future times. We will trace fossils, think about fossil formations and mould making. Families will explore fossils of the future, thinking about environmental impact of materials. Booking link coming soon.
