My name is Helen and I live in South Leeds with my lively two-year old daughter.
I wanted to create a website that made life easier for local families, a place where parents could go to to find everything they needed in one place – from regular events, groups and classes, to days out and activity ideas, along with signposting to all the local health and community support networks and recommendations for local businesses – welcome to South Leeds Mumbler!
As well as running South Leeds Mumbler, I am on the board of South Leeds Life local community newspaper and I write regular family features. I’m also Parent Rep on the Leeds Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP) Committee, which ensures that parent’s voices and input go into informing the maternity strategy for our city. If you want to feedback on any maternity or family services, please email your comments to me on firstname.lastname@example.org. And finally, there’s my “day job” of running a marketing consultancy business, including working two days a week with a family law firm.
South Leeds is a brilliant place to raise a family. We are lucky to have a huge range of local services, classes and activities for little ones, as well as some amazing parks and green spaces. We’re also well connected, with bus and train routes, motorways and A-roads giving easy access to family attractions and outdoor activities a bit further afield.
My aim is to help answer an array of daily parents questions, such as ‘Where can I go with my baby locally to meet other parents? What can I do with my toddler during the school holidays?’ How and where can I access local services for breastfeeding, family and single parents support, mental health services, help with benefits and financial or legal services? What can I do to relax? Which local cafes and restaurants are child friendly?
I hope South Leeds Mumbler will become your one, go-to place to find everything from playgroups and classes to local days out and special events, and perhaps even new friends!
The website is evolving so if there is something you want to see just let me know.
Join us on social too:
I’m sure that there are activities missing so please contact me here if you run a playgroup, class, attraction or event that you would like to be added or if you’re a parent that been to something that you would like to share.
I look forward to meeting you – either online or in person – and hope you find the new website useful.
