Three weeks ago, Bambini’s Play opened in Birkenshaw, we were invited along and were eager to try it out! Play sessions are 90 minutes long and whilst the children play in the fantastic space, you can enjoy a drink and treats from the cafe. Sounds ideal right? Here’s how we got on….
Ohhhhhhhhh this is exactly the kind of child-friendly venue I’ve been looking for! Somewhere to escape the house that just feels nice! No bright, garish plastic here- instead there are lots of neutral, fresh colours with high quality (mainly wooden) toys and play equipment. It was lovely and clean too- everything was immaculate.
Bambini’s Play is located in an old church hall, so there’s lots of space! The session that we attended was pretty full (almost all the tables were taken), but it didn’t feel busy. There was plenty of room and toys for the all children to play with. The play sessions are also capped low in numbers so your little one will never feel overwhelmed!
There was a lovely variety of play equipment. Role play is always a favourite of my three year-old, and brilliant to encourage creativity and imagination. There was a little shop, kitchen, baking area, ice cream stall and even a washing area (pegging out the laundry was so great for those fine motor skills!).
There was a separate carpeted area for the babies and non-walkers. There were a number of toys and sensory prompts (plus some more comfortable seating for parents sitting on the floor with them!).
There were plenty of opportunities for movement too! There were a few small ride-ons, a slide and foam bricks for building towers!
A full wooden train set topped everything off for my son, who was asking to return before we even left the place! Basically there was lots to do in the 90 minute play session, we could have easily stayed all day.
Some good to knows;
It’s an absolutely fantastic space- it goes without saying that we’ll be back!
