Hurrah! Congratulations on surviving six weeks of Summer holidays and all the back to school madness!
What you need right now is a night out with pals and a few belly laughs to ease you back to normality. We love our children dearly. But sometimes, to be the best parent we can be, we just need a little “me” time.
So I’ve put together this list of places my friends and I love for a child-free night out. And as it’s Christmas party booking season, this is a great opportunity to try out somewhere new before booking it for your work’s party.
*WANT TO WIN FREE GROUP TICKETS TO THESE VENUES?*
Follow the South Leeds Mumbler Facebook page as we will be running daily competitions all this week, to win free group tickets and other goodies for you and your friends.
For extra chances to win, share our Facebook page and group with your friends and encourage them to “like” and “follow” so they can enter to win group tickets too.
Then check in each night this week for the next competition, and GOOD LUCK!!!
Here’s a review I wrote for The Culture Vulture website about the last girls’ night out #GNO I went on with friends in Leeds: Bongo’s Bingo. (Now famous! You may have heard Gemma’s mum mention it on Corrie… although she’s probably not the parental role model we all aspire to be!!). Bongo’s Bingo has dates coming up in Leeds in September and October. Check the Bongo’s Bingo website for dates here.
Escape rooms are all the rage right now for group parties and corporate events. This unique addition to the Leeds escape room scene, run by NH Events, is based at Castleton Mills in Armley (LS12). Teams spend an hour solving puzzles to escape the room, then have another hour to analyse clues found in the room to try and identify the murderer. Read more about the room here.
Jump Inc is all about spring-loaded fun, where jumpers can literally bounce off the walls in a safe and controlled environment. We sent one of our reviewers to one of the Jump Inc ‘Adult only’ nights last week, and here’s what she said: “It was such an incredible experience! We had a great time jumping on the trampolines, trying different inflatables, and feeling the excitement and adrenaline of the place! We literally felt like kids!”
Fairly new to Leeds, this underground, over-18s, indoor crazy golf centre offers three themed courses, all with ridiculous manoeuvres around obstacles fashioned from “junk”. I’m not a golf fan generally, but friend took me for my birthday and it was brilliant, we had loads of fun! There’s a bar and American-style food menu so you can make a full night of it. More info on the Junkyard Golf website.
Normally on the 1st Wednesday of the month, these relaxed mid-week get togethers give you a chance to get creative while enjoying a drink with friends. A tutor will guide you through various media and techniques, with a break to explore the gallery upstairs. Clueless beginners and avid creators alike are welcome. It’s free, although donations are welcomed. The Tetley also runs a £10 beer and burger offer for the event. The next ‘Drink and Draw’ event is on 2nd October.
As well as music and a bar serving food and drinks, Roxy Ballroom has ping pong, shuffleboard, beer pong, pool, bowling and mini golf for you to keep you entertained. We often end up in Roxy Lanes after a meal or drinks in town – there’s one on Merrion Street and another on Boar Lane.
