Here at Mumbler, we’re so excited to work with The Week Junior Magazine to launch their Summer of Reading for 2022!
The Week Junior is a current affairs magazine for kids aged 8-14 years old, which aims to get children into reading. Each edition is a round-up of what’s been going on in the world & is packed with news and events as well as nature, science, history, books, sport, technology, films, recipes, puzzles, quizzes, ideas on things to make and do and more. It’s written in a way to help kids that age engage & understand and it covers all of the main news events but also less mainstream stories, that they might not otherwise hear about.
The Week Junior Summer of Reading will spark their natural curiosity and fill their summer with irresistible reading and activities.
There’s something for every child in each edition- and world events and news are carefully explained in a child-friendly way, a way that encourages them to think, question and be curious. Having more understanding about the world around them really helps boost a child’s confidence and gets them talking. Those conversations are vital for helping to encourage them to express themselves, explore their own opinions and develop critical thinking skills. Skills that will help them not only at school but in their lives ahead.
Reading really is an enduring superpower, making their imagination leap and their vocabulary bound, turbo-charging their thinking, confidence and wellbeing.

There is SO much packed into every issue of the Week Junior! As well as news from both the UK and around the world, it’s great to see articles on such a huge variety of topics. Just some quick features in our copy; there were articles on the Champions League, Russian Imports, Dinosaurs, the Falklands War and Money Management.
The format is just great for kids, and enables them to engage with the content that they’re reading- for example after ‘The Great Debate’ feature which includes arguments for and against the debate, children can vote in the poll with their opinion. There are also puzzles, quizzes and one of our favourite sections; ‘That’s Unbelievable!’ Which kid doesn’t love bizarre stories?!
It’s basically a great magazine, and something that gets kids off screens and immersed in reading. We love that it’s something that children can look forward to every week and that really fosters a love of reading, and a love of learning.
