Just a 20 minute drive from Morley you’ll find Middleton Park, one of Leeds Parks biggest sites. There are a number of paths that you can take if you fancy a walk around Middleton Wood! Have a look at this map to help you plan! The paths between the Visitor Centre and the Middleton railway station are buggy friendly- and there are two- so you can head there and back on a circular route.
If you want to make a day of your visit to Middleton Park, have a look at these suggestions.
Walk along Victoria Road in a North-Est direction (towards the ring road) and as you approach Churwell, turn right onto Victoria Street (before you get to the Tesco Express). Turn left onto Back Green and look out for the footpath on your right. Take this footpath, and as you approach the fields bear left (not towards the Broad Oaks Farm Buildings). You can follow a path all the way to the footbridge over the railway that takes you to the back of the White Rose Centre.
Once you’ve had a snack and rest at the White Rose, head back to the path in front of thr footbridge. Don’t cross it this time, instead turning left and following the path all the way along the side of the railway. Either cross the railway towards Daisy Hill, turning right on Jong George Avenue to head back to Victoria Road, or continue along the path onto Station Road.
This route is not suitable for buggies.
It’s about 1.5 miles to walk around the perimeter of Ardsley reservoir. It’s a great path for buggies although bikes are not permitted. Quite often an ice cream van parks up at the small car park on Haigh Moor Road in Tingley.
Oakwell Hall has some lovely walks, including buggy friendly paths and a playarea. If you download the Love Explore app you can also see Winter Fairies and Dinosaurs! There’s a great cafe selling hot and cold drinks and treats too! Read about walks at Oakwell Hall Country Park here.
